We spent a magnificent afternoon here — kids splashing happily in the shallow river while we enjoyed fresh-grilled meats and local wine in the shade of ancient sycamores. A truly special place.

The food is exceptional — everything fresh, local, generous portions. But what makes Acherontas unique is the setting: you are literally dining metres from the river. We went back three times in one week.

Perfect family taverna. The children loved the clear river water just steps away. We had lamb chops and river trout — both outstanding. A hidden gem of northern Greece.

Beautiful location right on the Acheron with lovely shade and a cool breeze from the water. The traditional recipes are prepared with great care and love.

The best way to experience the real Acheron. Eat well, drink cold local wine, then cool your feet in the river. This is what Greek summer is truly about.
